Catholic Senator From Omaha Continues To Sponsor Bills Promoting Homosexuality

After failed attempts during the 2014 legislative session, State SenatorJeremy Nordquist is back at it.

Though opposed by the Nebraska Catholic Conference and all three Nebraska bishops, Nordquist and Howard are sponsoring bills which will further advance the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) agenda in Nebraska.

Senator Nordquist, who represents the 7th District (South Omaha area), and is, according to the biographical information on his legislative website, a member of St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, has introduced and is championing LB 647, which would allow homosexual men and women, bisexuals, and transgender (which means biological men who perceive themselves to be women, and biological women who perceive themselves to be men) to be the foster parents of children who have been removed from their homes because of neglect or abuse.

Senator Nordquist’s great idea is to place some of these vulnerable, at-risk children in homes in which men have sex with other men, women with women, individuals who swing both ways, or men or women who are confused about their sexual identity.

A third bill, which almost made it to the governor’s desk last year, and is sponsored this time around by Senator Adam Morfeld of Lincoln, is LB 586. This bill provides special protective employment status to LGBTers.

According to Greg Schleppenbach, the Executive Director of the Nebraska Catholic Conference, who testified on Wednesday, February 4th against LB 586 (and LB 647 & 648) in front of the Judiciary Committee, this type of bill has been used elsewhere “not as a shield to protect LGBT persons, but as a sword to go after Christians who are not supportive of the LGBT lifestyle.”

All three bills are opposed by the Nebraska Catholic Conference.
